Summer days
Seizing the moment while the sun shines is always great, and I’m delighted to learn this month that my screenplay – working title ‘Ms’, developed from my novel ‘Felix Unbound’ – has made it onto the Page Turner Awards Finalists list for the Page Turner Screenplay Award 2023, in the Film Script subcategory!
Whatever happens next, that first thrill of getting this far will always bring me a happy glow. Fingers tightly crossed now for all fellow Page Turner Awards category finalists, for the next stages of the awards’ process. Info about all categories’ progress, will appear on www.pageturnerawards.com
In July, I was also delighted… when a second edition of ‘Felix Unbound’ itself, in paperback, hit the summer streets, complete with a page of quotes from reviewers. (ISBN number 978-1-80369-829-8). It was wonderful, and such fun, to be allowed to showcase this edition at the Big Indie Book Launch on 5th July – a ground-breaking, inaugural event celebrating the burgeoning world of independent publishing, organised by Literally PR and hosted at the world-famous Foyle’s bookshop in London’s Charing Cross Road. What an evening!
Fourteen writers unveiled their new books to the literary world that night, and gave readings from works ranging through novels, children’s literature, memoir, and non-fiction titles. I plan to post a review of one very evocative memoir here soon, that I’ve just finished reading.
Meanwhile, work continues steadily on my own next novel. Lots of plotting and planning done, and I’m almost halfway through writing the initial draft.
